Additional observations
- Liang–Barsky vs. Cohen–Sutherland
Liang–Barsky is a tidy choice here because it directly gives the entry/exit parameters (u0, u1) without iterative swapping of endpoints. It’s also a bit faster — a nice bonus even if performance isn’t critical on 11″ × 11″.
- Path splitting logic
Your clipPolyline routine carefully starts a new sub‑path whenever the segment leaves the rectangle, so SVG export will never write spurious “Z” closings that jump across the margin. That keeps the canvas‑to‑SVG parity intact.
- Name‑space hygiene
The earlier collision with p5’s global RIGHT constant is gone (you no longer define your own RIGHT). The console should stay clean.
- Visual density
With denser sampling (sampleEvery = 2) and successful clipping, the drawing now shows a satisfying weave of arcs without overcrowding. Negative space in the centre is preserved, so the piece still breathes.
I’d keep this version.
If you want to push any further, you could:
- Randomise stroke weight per ink a bit (within ±0.1 px) to accent subtle voices in the “chorus”.
- Bias colour selection so tighter curvature (smaller radius) receives warmer colours, looser arcs cooler ones — reinforcing the visual reading of tension and release.
But purely on correctness and aesthetics, your fix nails the brief. I’d lock it in and export the final SVG set.
